Traveling First-Class Commercial Painter

Full-Time in Houston, TX - Remote OK - Entry Level - Operations - $20.00 - $25.00 / hr

PaintJet is redefining the industrial painting market by introducing advanced robotics, AI and material sciences to optimize the coating process. Our automated approach tackles the systemic labor shortage by focusing on increasing painter productivity and precision application while reducing material waste. We are hiring a Traveling First-Class Commercial Painter to ensure operational excellence as we scale the company nationwide. The primary responsibilities of this role are applying paint and coatings to various commercial surfaces while working in settings such as offices, warehouses, and construction sites. The ideal candidate will have basic painting skills and the ability to follow instructions from supervisors.

The Traveling First-Class Commercial Painter is a highly skilled role and in this position, you will deliver high-quality painting services. The ideal Traveling First-Class Commercial Painter will also have the ability to adhere to safety protocols, operate painting equipment, and work collaboratively with other painters.

As PaintJet’s Traveling First-Class Commercial Painter, you will:

Painting Tasks:

  • Apply paint and coatings to surfaces using brushes, rollers, or sprayers.
  • Prepare surfaces for painting by cleaning, sanding, and priming as necessary.
  • Follow color schemes and coating specifications provided by project managers or clients.

Surface Preparation:

  • Clean and prepare surfaces before painting to ensure adhesion and a smooth finish.
  • Fill holes and cracks with appropriate fillers or sealants.
  • Mask and protect surrounding areas from paint splatter or overspray.

Safety Compliance:

  • Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines to prevent accidents and injuries.
  • Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) while painting.
  • Report any safety hazards or concerns to supervisors immediately.

Equipment Handling:

  • Operate painting equipment such as brushes, rollers, sprayers, and sanders safely and effectively.
  • Clean and maintain painting tools and equipment after use.
  • Notify supervisors of any equipment malfunctions or maintenance needs.

Team Collaboration:

  • Work collaboratively with other painters, contractors, and team members to complete projects on time and within specifications.
  • Follow instructions from supervisors and communicate any issues or concerns promptly.
  • Participate in team meetings and training sessions as required.

Education & Work Related Experience

  • High School diploma or GED required
  • Commercial painting experience required with basic knowledge of painting techniques and surface preparation methods
  • OSHA-10 required
  • Aerial boom lift certification preferred
  • Moderate proficiency with email, Google sheets, MS Office Suite preferred
  • CPR and First Aid certification preferred

Target Pay: $25.00/hr, full-time

Work Hours: This position requires the incumbent to be available during core business hours

Work Location: Remote with travel to job sites regularly

Travel Requirements: This position requires the incumbent to travel for up to 80% of the time
